c ma ville skikda c'est une ville cotiére elle est sitiué au nord_est d'algerie tout simplement c'est une belle ville lol!Skikda is city in the north eastern flanks of Algeria. It is noted for being a very important port on the Gulf of Stora, the ancient Sinus Numidicus. Skikda was founded in the year 1838 by the French colonies on the ruins of an ancient Phoenician city that later flourished as a large Roman city called Rusicade, a Punic word which means "Promontory of fire". The Roman port was destroyed by the Vandals in the 5th century.

Skikda was actually known as Philippeville until the end of the Algerian War of Independence in 1962.

The city took a huge knock after the war, but its inhabitants managed to rebuild many of the buildings as well as build several new modern neo-Moorish style buildings. Today the city has a population of nearly 1000 000 residents. Oil refining, natural gas and petrochemical industries were developed after the war in the 1970's and oil pipelines have been built for the transportation of oil to Skikda's neighboring cities.

When walking through the town center of Skikda, you will be able to observe the beautiful architecture of the city. The city hall is a breathtaking, neo-Moorish style palace that hosts many live concerts and shows. This city hall and the railroad station were designed by Le Corbusier.

Skikda has become a wealthy city since the war and its current annual income is among the highest in North Africa. Most of Skikda's income is generated by importing and exporting and it has the third largest commercial port in Algeria after Algiers and Oran. It also has a petrochemical terminal port and a smaller fishing port in Stora.
